Untitled II

Mixed media, sand-based medium and acrylic on canvas
100 × 100 cm · 2026

Untitled II treats the surface as a record of its own making. Sand-based medium is laid down, scraped back and built up again, until the canvas holds a dense field of marks: short vertical strokes, horizontal bands, edges that interrupt one another.

The warm, uniform tone reduces the painting to relief and light. As the light shifts, marks appear and recede, and the surface moves between flatness and depth.

The absence of a title is deliberate. Without a name to direct the reading, the work offers no image to recognise. What remains is structure, an order that seems to emerge from the surface rather than be imposed on it, and that never fully resolves.
